Whatever Material, Engagement Rings are Priceless

From my point of view engagement rings hold the maximum value for a person in terms of sentiments. Even when an engagement gets called off we tend to return the ring first thing. This shows the amount of personal sentiment that gets involved and vested into an engagement ring. So whatever may be the metal used or the stone used an engagement ring scores above any other gifts or tokens of association. These days we have the opportunity to get our platinum rings insured. Some gold or diamond companies also insure their products. But it is really unfortunate and most distressing to have lost ones engagement ring ever!

We have often faced the distressing situation of losing or even misplacing a piece of jewelry that cannot be found in ages. However ugly a situation that may be, we all must have to face this some time or the other. So it is always a good idea that you go in for that insurance if your engagement ring be of the precious kind. That’s in materialistic terms though. No matter what it is kinda always hard to get that first engagement ring replaced if you happen to lose it. The emotional value and attachment weighed upon it is far too heavy than anything else.

Ultimately it does not really matter how much the ring costs. Though traditionally gold has been the preferred metal for an engagement ring the recent trend has leaned more towards platinum. The mass appeal of platinum has in fact tilted the business for gold on the lower side. There are certain cultures or traditions still who would not accept anything other than gold as an engagement or marriage ring. A chaste band of pure gold or platinum, often coming with a few stones studded across it is the most common form of engagement ring. These kinds are usually not gender-specific. While women often get the fascination for colorful stones or even the more colorful and expensive diamonds or a ruby study or a piece of emerald or even a more elaborate combination of three stone, men will go for the more simpler and plain designs. In whatever part of the world you may be, it is a fact that the trend for engagement rings will always be high.

Love is Sweet

It was an eventful Monday morning, February 7th, 2008 to be precise; I was getting ready to leave home to go to my school where I teach Vth grade students. I had my bag and purse on my shoulder and was about to walk out the door. My fiancé, Andrew, was sitting on the couch watching TV and asked me to wait a minute and give him a kiss goodbye. I asked him if he could stand up because I was having things with me. He stood up, but then walked into the bedroom, and then came back with a beautiful little box.

I was a bit anxious. I knew he had bought a sparkling diamond engagement ring and had it hidden in the flat somewhere. The previous weekend we had gone to Lost Maples State Park here in Texas with my parents. He had shown the diamond engagement ring to my parents and asked their permission to marry me. My mother had expected the proposal to be that day, since Lost Maples is a very romantic setting. But no engagement proposal came from his side that day.

Anyway, now he asked me if I wanted to take my engagement ring to show my friends in school, but I said, "Not until he puts it in my ring finger". He took the ring I was wearing off, then opened the box holding the engagement ring, and started sliding it onto my finger. He then said, "Sweetheart, I love you".

At this point I became highly emotional and started crying. He looked me in the eyes. He had tears rolling too. "Do I even have to ask your hand?” he said. With tears in eyes, I threw my arms around him and said, "You don't have to ask, just like I don't have to answer". You are my dream man and I am pleased to be yours.

We were in each others arms for several minutes; then I dropped bag and called my mother. I was crying like a baby when she answered. She asked hysterically if something was bothering me and I said, "Nothing's wrong except that your baby girl is engaged! My boyfriend has given me a glittering diamond engagement ring.” My whole family learned of the news within five minutes of that call. They were happy for me.
Later in the evening, Andrew told me that he didn't ask my hand at Lost Maples because he wasn't looking for the most romantic moment, he was waiting for the moment, that I would least expect it. He definitely found the golden moment.

I want to tell you guys that I still went to school that morning, though my school principal said I had a very good reason for not coming to school! We're now planning our wedding for October 5, 2008. I am expecting a precious diamond wedding ring from him. My love story reveals that engagement rings complement love brilliantly.
